POSITION TITLE: Electrician 

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 months

 

JOB SUMMARY: Under limited supervision, the Electrician is responsible for the skilled

installation, servicing, repairing and replacing of electrical components, equipment, and

systems such as but not limited to parts in motors, generators, pumps, telemetry equipment,

breaker panels, controllers, switches, equipment and facilities.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

  1. Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all electrical systems of district facilities.
  1. Assemble, install, maintain, and test electrical systems including indoor and outdoor lighting for parking lots, buildings, and athletic fields according to specifications and electrical codes.
  1. Performs a variety of skilled electrical task involving troubleshooting, identifying and resolving electrical malfunction.
  1. Follows safe work procedures by making proper use of signs, safety equipment, scaffolds, ladders, and safety barriers.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Accurately maintain records as required by state or federal laws, and Yadkin County Board of Education policies, and/or school-based requests, and adhere to confidentiality requirements of state and federal law.
  1. Document work order requests with appropriate information regarding time, materials and resolution.
  1. Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to revise and design electrical systems as directed
  1. Dig trenches to install conduit in accordance with applicable regulations.
  2. Tests, locates and repairs sources of electrical malfunctions and complete repairs as indicated or according to work orders
  1. Inspects newly installed electrical equipment and lighting to ensure safe operations condition.
  1. Maintains and services electrical doors and control pads and performs minor repairs to elevator equipment.
  1. Inspects, maintains and operates assigned vehicles in according with the YCS fleet use guidelines.
  1. Inspects equipment for defects prior to use. Removes equipment from operation and communicates to supervision regarding requests for replacements.
  1. Effectively communicates with internal stakeholders to schedule repairs and or replacement of structures, etc.
  1. Document work order requests with appropriate information regarding time, materials and resolution.
  1. Performs other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work Environment: Medium/Heavy Exert force 10-25 lbs., frequently; and up to 60 lbs.,

prolonged standing, frequently lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.

 

Physical Demands: Frequent standing, walking, pushing, pulling, carrying, reaching, handling,

and repetitive fine motor activities.

 

Vision: Frequent near acuity and occasional far acuity. Mobility to work in a typical office

setting and use standard office equipment. Vision to read printed materials, a VDT screen, or

other monitoring devices.

 

Environmental Conditions: Varies from indoor exposure to outside weather conditions.

Exposure to noise levels ranging from moderate to loud.

 

Hazards: Uneven walking/working surfaces, communicable diseases, cleaning chemicals,

lifting/carrying of materials, and power/hand-operated equipment and machinery (as related to

specific assignment). Confined Space entry and work in potentially under hazardous

environmental conditions.
